Here you will find some of the courses I have taken at Clemson University. These include courses dedicated to Spanish language and culture, as well as courses dedicated to various business disciplines. 

Language Proficiency

4 years of Spanish, written and oral: From elementary Spanish to Advanced Composition and Business Conversation

Spanish Composition for Business SPAN 3060:  An introduction to business vocabulary, writing samples, and conversational structures. This class emphasized general knowledge of business practices in Spanish speaking countries. 

Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Composition SPAN 3050: This class emphasized pronunciation, speaking, and improvement of vocabulary. Numerous written assignments allowed for improvement of syntax and grammar.

Spanish for International Trade II SPAN 4160: 

An intensive course in studying businesses and presenting new ideas for them. Areas like marketing strategy, management systems, and organizational structure were emphasized.

Spanish for International Trade SPAN 3160: Taken in Spain, this course provided a wider business vocabulary and knowledge of real business problems, specifically in Spain. Studies of Spanish companies and markets in Spain provided context for broader business concepts.

Below you will find an essay written in Spanish profiling two international CEOs, as well as the differences in business culture in different countries around the world.

Cultural Competency

Hispanic World: Spain SPAN3070:

Taken in Spain, this course focused on the culture of Spain through its history, art, and architecture. The class included trips to significant sites around Seville that hold both historical and cultural value. This class also gave insight into present-day Spain, including studies of the country's autonomous regions and system of government.

Hispanic World: Latin America SPAN3080 : 

An intensive course on the history of the Latin America including pre-Columbian empires, the Spanish colonial period, independence movements, and present-day culture. This course provides a thorough look at the distinct regions in Latin America and how their cultures formed with influence from indigenous groups and their interactions with the Spanish.

Business Competency

Consumer Behavior MKT3020:

With a focus on the psychology of buying, this course provided information about why people buy, how they buy, and how their culture affects their buying habits. 

International Marketing MKT4270:

An intensive look at how evolutionary principles caused cultures to form around the world and how those cultures approach decision making and buying. 

International Microeconomics ECON3100:

An introduction to the principles of international trade. This course provided an analytical approach to assessing both domestic and foreign markets. 

 

International Management MGT4230:

This course provides insights into how political and cultural systems around the world affect management practices. Examining trade policies and international laws help explain how international business decisions are made.
